COVID-19 protocols to ensure patient and practitioner safety during treatment

For the safety and protection of our community, I would like to reassure you that I’m following and continuously updating clinical hygiene protocols to the maximum level advised.

The GOsC (General Osteopathic Council) is the regulating body for osteopaths and takes their guidance from NICE and the NHS. Osteopaths as statutory regulated healthcare professionals are expected to assess the risks to protect all patients prior and during any session in the clinic. This starts with the short questionnaire you receive prior to your first appointment and follows on with a sequence of practical steps I take for all face-to-face appointments. This is to ensure that everyone can have treatment safe in the knowledge that I’m operating at the highest standards of care.

Entering the practice and waiting for your appointment

When you arrive, to maintain social distancing, I ask that you wait either outside or in your car until I text you or let you know you can come into the practice. This is to avoid anyone coming into close proximity to other patients. If this is not possible, and you need to wait in the waiting room, please maintain social distance from any other patients in the practice. Please wear a face covering at all times in the practice; if you don’t have one, I can provide you with a disposable mask.

There is touch-free hand sanitiser in the waiting room for your use.

In the waiting room, there are individual boxes for your shoes. These are disinfected in between sessions. You are very welcome to use the WC along the corridor at the end of our practice. All the surfaces in there are also disinfected in between sessions.

Your treatment

Prior to meeting you, I will have followed stringent guidelines on lengthy practitioner handwashing, including nails and all the way up to the elbows. I wear a mask at all times.

In the treatment room, there is a box for any phone, wallet, purse, bag etc. you may have with you, and this is disinfected after each session. There is also access to hand sanitiser in the treatment room.

You are, of course, very welcome to wear your own mask. Please let me know if you wish to be given a mask on arrival.

At the end of every treatment session, I will disinfect all surfaces, dispose of PPE safely and repeat stringent handwashing procedures.

A safer way to pay

My online diary and booking system allows you to make payment at the time of booking. I regret I cannot accept cash at this time and ask that, if you have not paid for your session in advance for whatever reason, you are prepared to carry out a bank transfer at the end of the session.

I will not enforce the 24-hour cancellation fee at this time, and your payment for your session will be carried over to your rescheduled appointment. If, for any reason, you are unable to reschedule and require a refund, please contact me to arrange this for you.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
